You have to wonder about the life of these airframes. The bombers would not have the stresses of a jet fighter, but still 100 years old? Wow! There is a young lady on YouTube, a software engineer, I think, named Stevie Triesenberg, who owns a V-tail bonanza that's over 70 years old. She's had it refitted with a glass panel while trying to maintain some of the older classy look. She did a nice job, and recently she bought and restored a beautiful 1949 140A!

I have enjoyed reading your posts Tim. We served about the same time and I'm thinkin we might a met before. My encounter with the Buff was the first time I drove up to the main gate at Minot and I suddenly felt like I was within a rock tumbler, noise and all. I looked out and above from my car and got a really close look at the bottom of the bird. I said I thought they were long gone, but guess not. I felt sorry for the pilots assigned to this aircraft when there were so many new models out there, but still an awesome intimidator which has done very well in the defense of our country and our allies. Keep up the good posts and regards.

What amazes me about this is that there is enough fatigue life in the airframes to go out to 2060. Especially since they have operated in the low level environment, I'm not sure if they still do that? I did a quick bit of a search but couldn't find out if they have had new wing spars etc at some point. Still, I guess they don't build them like they used to.
