A U.S. Air Force F-16 was the subject of a very close pass by a Russian SU-35. The F-16 was out of the 18th Fighter Interceptor Squadron from Eielson AFB, AK. The 18th FIS was recently retasked to provide additional alert forces to intercept Russian and Chinese aircraft crossing into the Alaska Air Identification Zone (ADIZ).
In the video below, the F-16 follows a Russian TU-95 bomber. The Sukoi fighter appears out of nowhere, with the Russian fighter’s canopy next to the F-16’s pilot. That was a very close pass!
Check out the video.
Does the TU-95 start a turn to pass behind the F-16 after the F-16 is level again?
The camera does not bank with the aircraft, does it just show the back of the pilot's helmet when the aircraft is inverted?
Same question about the F16 pilot knowing there was an aircraft approaching.
